Kelligraphy with Laura Hooper

Spending Sunday having coffee, donuts, seafood, strolling by the beach and attending Laura Hooper’s calligraphy workshop with good friends is anything but ordinary!

Laura Hooper Calligraphy Workshop
Any one who’s even slightly into calligraphy should definitely go to this when they organize it again. They share a lot of great tips on doing calligraphy and how it works as a business. The workshop run by Laura and her sister Alyssa, two lovely ladies who are also running the calligraphy business together, this sister duo sure make a great team. They were also constantly reminding us to pay attention to our posture while we were practicing.

It was a 3 hours workshop and my hand got really sore because I was so frantic that the ink was going to dry on the nib, I certainly missed out many times when Laura was showing us how to do the letter on the chalkboard – I was too nervous to look up, I kept tracing until I ran out of ink. Finally, I took a break and went shopping in the back, and yes, I went a little crazy, I had to, they were giving a 15% discount! I got an extra beginner and intermediate guide book, extra regular white paper pads, black paper pad and a box of gold ink kit. Now I must make this my new career to make that money back!

You can check out her website at:

Hermosa Beach, CA
First time at Hermosa Beach, it’s so nice and clean – If you are thinking about going to a beach while visiting LA, you should check this one out, but please pick up your own filth so it doesn’t end up looking like Venice Beach. Just kidding, but not kidding, haha!

Perfect weekend

Yup! We napped a lot!
… And we took some photos for Buddy for his LinkedIn profile. We think it’s about time he finds a job. He can’t be a freeloader forever!

  “This pose?”

“Or this? Do I look successful?”

After the tiring photo session. Buddy invited his brother to beg for some napa cabbage. One of Buddy’s favorite food! And speaking of favorite… Sunday is definitely his favorite day of the week. He totally understands why people call it Sunday Funday, even though his mommy has Sunday Blues. He wouldn’t understand because he eats and lives for free! Oops sorry, I am totally off track; Buddy loves Sunday because he gets to go to Puppy Kindergarten at Pussy & Pooch and see his favorite people in the world (his trainers). Also because he gets to play with other puppies, and training exercises involves a lot of treats!

“Hurry up guys! We are late to class!!!”

“Is that me in the mural?”

“Oh woof, that was fun! But we gotta hurry, human! Let’s get outta here fast, I was farting a storm in there from all the treats”

“Yup! I ate, I played, I farted, now I’m pooped! Time for a puppy nap…”

Shake Shack moved in

When I left New York 2 years ago, Shake Shack was one of the many things I was sad to leave behind. But guess what? They opened one in LA recently! We risked waiting hours to try it but we waited about 45 minutes. Not bad, not bad at all! And most importantly… It is as good as I remembered it and we tried the THE CHICK’N SHACK for the first time, very tasty! Nom nom nom…

Stumbled upon… One, two, three little gems

IMG_0196Left Buddy behind to get a mud bath after Puppy Kindergarten at Pussy & Pooch. I had a few hours to spare so I went over to Beverly Blvd and wandered around aimlessly. Well, I am so glad I did because I stumbled upon these cute stores. I am beyond obsessed!
